“The strikes were successful, the targets — destroyed”: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on death of 18 people in Kyiv, including 4 children

The Insider

The Kremlin has commented on its overnight strikes targeting Kyiv. Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that the “special military operation continues” and that Russia is responding to Ukrainian strikes, which he claimed “often target civilian infrastructure.”

On the night of August 27-28, and again on the morning of August 28, air raid alerts were sounded in the Ukrainian capital. The city administration reported that transportation was being partially restricted due to overnight explosions, while smoke from fires spread across the city. According to the latest data from Kyiv regional administration head Tymur Tkachenko, 18 people were killed, including four children.

“Many thousands of windows shattered. In the Holosiivskyi District alone, up to 80 buildings were damaged. An order has been given to release reserve funds immediately. We will direct additional resources to provide assistance,” Tkachenko wrote.
