According to South Korea's National Intelligence Service, the North Korean military contingent fighting in Russia's Kursk Region has suffered significant losses, with 300 servicemen killed and another 2,700 wounded. This assessment was reported by the Yonhap news agency.
Earlier in December, the reported casualty toll stood at 100 killed and 1,000 wounded.
This past Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published photos allegedly showing two North Korean soldiers captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“No one in the world should be left in doubt that the Russian army depends on military aid from the DPRK. Three years ago Putin was making ultimatums to NATO and trying to rewrite history, and now he can't make do without military assistance from Pyongyang. Ukraine is ready to hand over [North Korean] men to Kim Jong-un if he can organize their exchange for our soldiers held captive in Russia,” President Zelensky wrote.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that the total losses of North Korean troops during clashes with Ukrainian forces amounted to some 4,000 people. South Korean intelligence put the figure at closer to 3,000.
