The Insider obtains video footage of Russian MLRS firing from Zaporizhzhia NPP site

The Insider

A video of Russian multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) firing from the site of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been obtained by The Insider. It was filmed on the night of September 2nd to 3rd. The footage shows MLRS systems in close proximity to a power unit.

The Insider asked experts from the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) to examine the video:

“The footage shows the smokestacks of the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant (TPP), which can also be seen in this panoramic photo from Google. The footage is being filmed from the opposite bank of the Dnipro River and the camera is pointing to the south. This means that the location of the MLRS launch is to the west of the Zaporizhzhia TPP. Also, the site of the NPP itself is west of the TPP, but it is impossible to say exactly whether the rockets are being really launched from the plant site.”

To recap, The Insider previously wrote that the Russian military was constantly shelling power transmission lines to disconnect the plant from the Ukrainian grid, hoping to then connect it to the Russian grid. In addition, the military was stockpiling munitions right inside the nuclear power plant premises. If the event of a detonation, a nuclear catastrophe may ensue.
