The Insider

Russian troops have occupied the northeastern and southeastern outskirts of Severodonetsk, the AFU General Staff reports this morning. The information has also been confirmed by the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Sergei Haidai in his Telegram channel.

«Heavy fighting for Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. The enemy engaged all possible weapons, using aviation. However, our military is firmly holding the defense to keep the enemy from moving further in. Russian shells killed two Severodonetsk residents and wounded five more. Most of them shared a neighborhood in the old part of the city. They were cooking food in the courtyard when the shelling suddenly began. Two residents of Sirotino were seriously injured. All of the wounded received medical care and are already in hospitals in Donbass,» Haidai wrote.

On May 27, Sergei Haidai wrote that Russian troops were able to occupy the outskirts of Severodonetsk but the city was not surrounded.

According to the General Staff, ammunition and equipment are being transferred from Russian territory to reinforce the military units near Severodonetsk.

The report says that Russian troops have also «gained a foothold in Lyman.»

The Russian military is advancing to encircle Ukrainian troops at Lysychansk and Severodonetsk and block the main delivery routes. Also, according to the AFU, they are preparing for an offensive on Slavyansk.
