Polish Sejm recognizes Russia as state sponsor of terrorism

Читать на русском языке

The Polish Sejm has recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The text of the resolution adopted by the Sejm states that Russia “attacks the territories of other countries, commits armed attacks, war crimes, and genocide”.

“The Russian Federation's bestial and unlawful aggression against Ukraine continues. The Russian military is carrying out attacks throughout the invaded country, killing thousands of people, including many children. The Russian Federation and its subordinate structures and formations are committing acts of terror targeting civilian infrastructure, summary executions and abductions, sexual violence and torture, tearing children from their families to subject them to Russification, and mass deportations of the population,” the deputies say in their statement.

The Polish authorities underline Russia’s culpability in the Flight MH17 crash in the Donetsk Region in 2014 and its responsibility for the crash of Polish Air Force Flight 101 in Smolensk in 2010, which killed 96 crew members and passengers, including Polish president Lech Kaczynski. (To remind you, a Dutch court in the Hague has found Russia guilty of taking down Flight MH17; as for the crashing of the Polish plane, the Interstate Aviation Committee concluded that it was caused by erroneous actions of the crew, while Poland insisted that the incident may have involved an explosion and the interference of Russian secret services.)

Early in November, the European Parliament designated Russia a state sponsor of terrorism because of Russia's attacks on Ukraine's civilian facilities.
