Ksenia Shoigu, daughter of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, spent her New Year’s vacation in Dubai, according to a report by independent media outlet Sota. Denis Dolzhenko, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Russia's Vologda region, posted a photo of Ksenia Shoigu in front of a Louis Féraud boutique in The Dubai Mall.
The caption to the photo states that it was taken in Vologda, but this is contradicted by the name of the boutique in the picture: there are no Louis Féraud stores in Russia.
Dolzhenko also posted photos from Dubai on his VK page the day prior, making no attempt to hide his location:
Journalist Sergei Ezhov confirmed Sota's findings, and found the hotel where Ksenia Shoigu stayed with her husband – the Caesars Palace Dubai.
Andrei Turchak, secretary of the United Russia general council, promised to strip Dolzhenko of his party membership due to the “inappropriate photos”:
“There were several high-profile cases during the holiday season when deputies from United Russia's ranks behaved inappropriately. There are many things you can be passionate about in life – running, diving, skiing... But there’s a time and a place for everything. Another one of our deputies will be deprived of his party membership tomorrow. He’s had enough…”.
Dolzhenko responded by saying that he was in Dubai during his official vacation, and picked the destination “in order to take his child to the seaside, as recommended by doctors”.
