On December 5, Russia launched another massive missile strike on Ukraine, with air raid alerts declared across the entire country. After the explosions, there were problems with electricity in the Kyiv region, Odesa was partially de-energized, and residential buildings were destroyed in Zaporizhzhia. Photos of the aftermath of the strikes were circulated on Ukrainian Telegram channels.
Explosions were heard in Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions. There are also reports of missile strikes in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Uman.
Several private homes were destroyed in the village of Novosofiivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Kyrylo Timoshenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office. Oleksiy Kuleba, head of the Kyiv regional military administration, reported that the city’s air defense systems were triggered.
The heads of the Poltava and Kharkiv regions also reported on the activation of air defense systems and the threat of missile attacks. A missile was shot out of the air in the Dnipro region.
Ukrainian Telegram channels published photos and videos from the Kyiv subway, as locals descended underground en masse after the announcement of the air raid alert.
