A mobilized Russian soldier shot himself in the leg at the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School to avoid being sent to Ukraine, Sibir.Realii reported, citing two of the victim's fellow servicemen.

“His roomate said that they [the Russian military] literally grabbed the guy at home, he didn’t want to go to war, but had no way to hide from the military recruitment office. That’s how he solved the problem in the end. It may also have been influenced by a lot of talk among the mobilized about their fellow countrymen [being sent to the war zone],” one of the man’s fellow draftees told the publication.

There has been no official comment on the incident. According to Sibir.Realli’s sources, the man was taken to a local hospital.

In late November, Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels published videos of a show arrest of two Russian servicemen who refused to follow the orders of their superiors.
