On the eve of its 12th anniversary, The Insider’s editorial team held its first conference with journalists from Central and Eastern European countries. The event took place in Prague.
The editors brought together representatives of 12 outlets based in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Moldova, Czechia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Germany to discuss their investigations into Russian disinformation campaigns and the activities of Russian intelligence services.
Among the most notable outlets in attendance were Czechia’s Deník N and Voxpot, Slovakia’s Denník N, Romania’s PressOne and Snoop, Moldova’s Little Country and MOST | Transnistria, Hungary’s Vsquare and Direkt36, Germany’s Correctiv, and Poland’s Vot Tak.
Over the course of two days, journalists shared relevant investigative experiences and contributed to roundtables focused on Russian propaganda and disinformation campaigns in Central and Eastern Europe. Significant focus was also devoted to the work of the Russian intelligence services — including Moscow’s sabotage, subversion, and influence operations — along with the influence of Kremlin corruption in European countries.
The meeting will result in the creation of joint investigative teams and new cross-border projects.
