Grozev's profile on the federal wanted list: "wanted for a criminal offense"
In a conversation with The Insider, Grozev pointed out he did not know his charges: “I didn’t and still don't know what I am being charged with. I don’t think they can prosecute a foreign national under the Criminal Code article on discrediting the armed forces, so they must have come up with something else.”
Last summer, the FSB accused Grozev of helping Ukrainian intelligence services, who were ostensibly planning to hijack a Russian fighter plane. According to Grozev, he was simply “documenting one of the most ridiculous counterintelligence operations of all times”:
Using a traditional mix of forged "evidence" and loosely interpreted facts, the FSB also accused me personally of being involved in the plane-hijacking plot (on screen: totally forged message, I never had a UK number, obviously). pic.twitter.com/NxtN66cALI— Christo Grozev (@christogrozev) July 25, 2022
