Azov regiment publishes photos of wounded Ukrainian soldiers trapped at Azovstal, asks UN and Red Cross for evacuation

The Azov Regiment has published photos of wounded Ukrainian fighters blocked at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. The fighters ask the UN and the Red Cross to organize immediate evacuation of the wounded soldiers.

«The entire civilized world must see the conditions in which the wounded, mutilated defenders of Mariupol ended up living and act! In completely unsanitary conditions with open wounds, covered with non-sterile bandage fragments, without necessary medicines or even food,» the message reads.

On May 7, the Ukrainian authorities reported that all women, children and the elderly had been evacuated from the Azovstal plant site in Mariupol.

Earlier it was reported that about 550 civilians had been evacuated from the plant. The siege of the city has lasted more than two months. According to Mayor Vadim Boychenko, during that time more than 10,000 civilians were killed. Convoys with humanitarian aid could not enter the city for weeks because they were blocked by the Russian military. According to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the Russian army wants to «make an example of destroyed Mariupol».
